There are several different ways to ingest CBD and they all have different pros and cons. One of the biggest cons to smoking CBD is the fact that you are combusting dried plant material into charcoal and inhaling the fumes. That sentence scares the crap out of a lot of people. And for these people, there is vaping. The most popular way of vaping CBD, is by using a CBD cartridge. However, CBD pods are rising in popularity! What are these two forms of vaping and what are their pros and cons? The purpose of this article is to take a look at CBD cartridges vs CBD pods!
Can you Vape CBD Oil?
Fortunately, this question has already been solved.
The answer is…. Of course!
CBD oil can easily be vaped using the appropriate device. Typically, people use what is called a “vape pen”. Vape pens come in many different shapes and forms, but they are all used for vaping.
Also, each vape pen comes with two main components:
- A battery
- An atomizer (or heat source)
What this means is every vape pen applies heat and requires a power source to do so. The battery acts as that power source while the atomizer will heat the CBD oil to the perfect temperature.
CBD vape cartridges are an easy and convenient way to jump into the world of vaping CBD!
CBD Cartridges already come with the oil prefilled and have the atomizer already provided for you in the cartridge. Essentially, to vape a CBD cartridge, all you need is the right battery. Cartridges are essentially containers designed to hold CBD oil and make it more convenient for you to vape. Cartridges come in different shapes, sizes, and forms depending on the company that makes them.
What is a CBD Vape?
Similar to THC Cartridges, CBD Cartridges are slim disposable tanks filled with CBD oil. They typically connect to a standard 510 threaded battery and provide an easy way to start vaping CBD.
All CBD cartridges don’t connect to 510 threaded batteries. There are also cartridges, but they have become known as pods. These are more similar to the JUUL device that became very popular lately. These pods tend to vary on what type of battery they can use. Typically pod batteries are not interchangeable like the 510 threaded batteries.

This is a CBD Cartridge! Notice the 510 threading on the bottom of the cart…. this allows it to be screwed in and used with any battery that accepts 510 threading.
CBD pods are very similar to CBD Cartridges. The most identifiable difference is they don’t screw into the battery. Pods typically will match up to a specific battery that it will just “click” right into when attached. These pods are fairly new to the vaping scene but have become hugely popular in the short amount of time they have been around.

This is a CBD pod…. notice there is no threading so it can’t be screwed into a battery. This specific pod only works with a specific battery and cannot be interchanged.
Let’s take a look at some of the pros and cons that arise when we we see the differences between CBD Cartridges vs CBD Pods.
CBD Cartridges Vs CBD Pods
Vaping is probably the most stylish way to inhale the active ingredients of the hemp plant. A bit of a craze has been centered around vaping lately. In regard to tobacco, people are starting to vape nicotine salts rather than smoking a dirty cigarette to get their nicotine fix. But this has been done mostly with pods and disposable vapes. I mean… when was the last time you saw someone vaping a nicotine cartridge? You probably haven’t but you might have seen someone vaping their JUUL pod!
As far as cannabis and hemp are concerned, industry has not disappointed at all. The industry has shown that it is more than willing to comply with the stylish nature that vaping out of pods provides.
Which is better to vape out of? Cartridges or pods?!
Well just like expected, the two come with their pros and cons.
Are CBD Cartridges Better Than CBD Pods?
Cartridges were here first so they basically pioneered the CBD vaping game. One of the best things about CBD Cartridges is that they have been around a little while now and have seen a few upgrades over the years. Making them less and less likely to malfunction! That does depend on the quality of the cart. You do get what you pay for! If you try to save money on your cartridge then don’t be surprised if it malfunctions on you.
A definite pro for cartridges are how readily available they are! Vapers have variety of cartridge systems they have to choose from. Most cartridges fit 510 threaded batteries, so vapers can rest assured that their cart will fit most batteries. For this reason, cartridges are pretty convenient.
Cartridges do have a fair share of their cons as well. The most irritating of these is that they have to be cleaned pretty regularly. The biggest mistake that people new to vaping make is the idea that they no longer have to clean their device. While it is true that you may never have to clean a smoking pipe again if you pick up vaping, you are still going to have to clean your vape. With cartridges it is supper important to make sure the connection between the battery and the cartridge is clean. Residue can form and harden there and can disrupt the connection to the battery. What is worse is if the residue on the connection hardens, you have a good chance of pulling out a wire when you take off your cartridge.

Are CBD Pods Better Than CBD Cartridges?
Although the cartridges stand as the pioneers, pods have been a big hit in the CBD vaping game. They brought rare options for users, allowing many users to refill their pods. This gave many vapers the opportunity to use handcrafted CBD vape oils, and this has attracted extraordinary interest from CBD consumers.
Pods make it surprisingly simple for you to fix yourself CBD vape juice using your preferred strains and concentrates. The ability to refill and reuse pods also comes out as a cost-cutting advantage compared to the one-off use cartridges. This isn’t always a benefit. Vaping can be harmful and it is possible to refill your pod with a harmful chemical if you don’t know what’s in it or where it was made.
The truth is that there is much more to the pod than what meets the eye. For instance, they are discreet with comparatively bigger vape liquid capacity and give room for long term use unlike cartridges that require replacements.
