Don’t Let Trump End the Cannabis Industry: Sign the Petition

We posted an article this morning about our President, Donald J Trump. The article was called Trump Isn’t Going to Legalize Cannabis, and we find the feedback rather disturbing. Although the article is rather well sourced and provides links to all the claims made, some people still thought is was “fake news”. Some people even took the opportunity to make some racist remarks for writing and sharing the article.

Here are some screenshots of the comments and the post, with the below comments, can be found in the Legalize it Florida Facebook group.

Here are the fact guys….

Trump has already proposed a budget plan that will scale back the protections provided to states that have legalized cannabis in one form or another.

In the past, the way the federal government would tolerate the legal cannabis market would be to limit the amount of funding that would be used to prosecute these entrepreneurs, connoisseurs and patients.

The Trump administration is proposing to do away with that! He is backing a proposal that is literally trying to fund the shutdown of the cannabis markets that now exist in 33 states.

After the feedback we saw this morning, its apparent that many cannabis activists, who also seem to support cannabis legalization, are ignoring Trump’s actions.

We cannot let this happen!

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws has began collecting signatures for a petition to push congress to not allow Trump to scale back cannabis legalization in the US.

Please see a full text of the petition below!

We cannot express how important it is for you to click on the button above and to read and sign the petition. Trump is literally trying to scale back all the progress the cannabis movement has made in just one signature. We need yours to stop him!

Since 2014, members of Congress have passed annual spending bills that have included a provision protecting those who engage in the state-sanctioned use and dispensing of medical cannabis from undue prosecution by the Department of Justice, referred to as the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment. The language maintains that federal funds can not be used to prevent states from “implementing their own state laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana.”

In the FY2020 CJS Appropriations package, the amendment language was included in the base text in both chambers of Congress.

President Trump’s recently released budget omits this language.

This amendment is strongly supported by voters and is relied on by patients. According to recently released nationwide survey data, the majority of Americans are on our side. A whopping 94 percent support the medical use of marijuana. Perhaps most importantly, 71 percent of voters — including strong majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents — say that they “oppose the government enforcing federal laws against marijuana in states that have already legalized medical or recreational marijuana.”

Congress must not turn its back on the millions of Americans nationwide who rely on state-authorized programs for their health, wellness, and liberty. According to recently released nationwide survey data, the majority of Americans strongly support patients’ access to medical marijuana and oppose federal interference in these matters.

I urge you to reject President Trump’s desire to reprioritize taxpayer dollars to take enforcement actions against state-legal medical marijuana programs and ensure that this protection remains included in the upcoming federal spending bill.
