02 May Florida Just Banned Psilocybin Spores—But Chillum Has a Legal Shroom Solution
The Florida Legislature just passed the 2025 Farm Bill, and tucked inside it is a small but powerful piece of legislation that could change the state’s psychedelic landscape: psilocybin mushroom spores and mycelium are about to become illegal.
Once Governor Ron DeSantis signs the bill—which he’s expected to do—it will be a first-degree misdemeanor to transport, sell, or even give away spores or mycelium capable of producing psilocybin or psilocin during their life cycle. Even though spores don’t contain any active compound, the bill specifically targets their potential to grow into controlled substances.
So, is this the end of the magic mushroom movement in Florida?
Absolutely not. In fact, Chillum is just getting started.
A Smarter Shroom: Chillum’s Non-Detect Mushroom Line
We’ve been preparing for this. In partnership with Learn Euphoria, Chillum proudly offers the Non-Detect Mushroom Line—a collection of products made with real Psilocybe cubensis mushrooms that have had the psilocybin bred out entirely.
These mushrooms are a first of their kind. They come from a variation of the Hillbilly cultivar that’s been selectively bred to contain zero detectable psilocybin—making them 100% legal under Florida’s new law. If the mushroom can’t produce a controlled substance, it’s not banned.
“This mushroom has had the psilocybin bred out,” says Chillum owner Carlos Hermida. “It’s completely legal. It’s basically the hemp flower of the magic mushroom world.”
Gummies, Chocolates, Capsules, and More—All Legal
Our Non-Detect Mushroom products are available in multiple formats:
- Gummies
- Chocolates
- Capsules
- Extracts
These products are made for spiritual and educational use only and come from real mushrooms—not synthetic compounds or sketchy knockoffs. They’re grown, tested, and verified with certificates of analysis proving zero psilocybin.
And yes—they’re on shelves now at both of our locations in Ybor City and Downtown St. Pete. You won’t find these anywhere else.
What Are Non-Detectable Tryptamines?
Tryptamines are a class of compounds that interact with serotonin receptors in the brain. You’ve probably heard of a few of them—psilocybin, DMT, LSD. But not all tryptamines are illegal.
In fact, some are non-detectable by drug tests or standard chromatography equipment, meaning they fly under the regulatory radar. These compounds share similar effects and structures to traditional psychedelics—but since they’re not on any banned list, they’re legal by default.
That’s where the Non-Detect line comes in. Our products contain natural tryptamine compounds that are non-detectable, legal, and revolutionary.
The Shroom Boom Isn’t Over—It’s Just Getting Smarter
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: Chillum doesn’t stop—we adapt.
From being the first legal mushroom dispensary in the U.S. to pioneering the Amanita Muscaria wave in Florida, Chillum has always led the charge in functional fungi. With the Non-Detect line, we’re staying ahead of the law while continuing to provide our community with safe, mindful, and innovative mushroom products.
As Carlos puts it:
“If you want to pray to these mushrooms or study them, more power to you. We’re just here to make sure you can legally do that.”
Available Now at Chillum:
These mushrooms are real, legal, and only found in-store at Chillum.
Disclaimer: These products are intended for spiritual and educational purposes only. The FDA and FDACS have not evaluated or approved these products for consumption. Consumption of non-detect tryptamine products is considered an abuse of product.
