Florida’s Senate is Trying to Limit the THC in Your Medical Cannabis

It is the tail end of the legislative session, and surprise, the rumors that our Florida legislature is going to try to limit the amount of THC in medical cannabis have come true at the last minute.

After weeks of rumors, and even politicians and veterans rallying in Tallahassee against such a proposal, the proposal was finally filed Friday afternoon in the Senate.

THC is the main psychoactive compound in cannabis and is a key component in cannabis’ medicinal benefits.

Gayle Harrell, a Republican Senator from Stuart, filed the amendment attached to a larger health care package. The last stop for the bill is the Senate Rules committee on Monday afternoon.

This amendment caps THC at 10% potency for patients under 21 years old except for patients whose doctors who call for more THC.

There are no reasons why politicians should try to control the amount of THC medical marijuana patients have access to.
