13 Jul What is CBD Flower?
CBD Hemp Flower has become a great alternative to cannabis. But what is CBD Hemp Flower?
For a lot of people smoking weed just is not their cup of tea. It could be that the high associated with the THC in weed makes them too paranoid, gives them too much anxiety, or just makes them feel strange and awkward. A good option for these people is CBD Hemp Flower, or Phytocannabinoid Rich (PCR) Hemp Flower. Hemp Flower offers a range of benefits that cannabis has, but without the high. It even looks, smells, and smokes like normal weed, but according to federal law it isn’t considered to be weed.
What is CBD Flower?
Scientifically speaking, CBD Hemp Flower is indeed considered to be cannabis. From a botanical perspective they are indeed the same plant. The key here is under legal definitions. Back in 2014 the federal US government was looking to take the first steps to make industrial hemp (the kind of hemp you can make ropes and clothes out of) an agricultural commodity for the US. When they did this, they decided to only care about the component in cannabis that gets you high. So, since 2014, the US federal government has defined hemp as a cannabis plant that contains less than .3% THC on a dry weight basis. The government must not have realized how smart people who breed and grow cannabis strains are, cause they started to develop strains of cannabis that contain less than .3% THC and are rich in CBD.
CBD Hemp Flower is cannabis bud that has a number of the benefits that the cannabis plant does without any of the stoned feeling. As a matter of fact, if you feel out of your mind stoned from your legal medical marijuana, you can actually use CBD to come back down. It almost works as a rescue substance in that regard.
CBD Hemp Flower Vs. THC Cannabis Flower
As you can probably tell by now, the difference between the two has to do with THC content. Being that Hemp has less than .3% THC content and cannabis has more. You may already be familiar with the terms indica and sativa. Indica and sativa are terms used to describe the effects of consuming cannabis. Basically, referring to the effects of the high given by cannabis (it is a bit more complicated than that but for the purposes of this article we are going to keep things simple). Indica and sativa strains can have up to 25% THC content and sometimes even more.
Since CBD Hemp Flower does not get you high, the terms indica and sativa do not apply here. The effects are almost always a calm focus effect. And there is a lack of variation to the cannabinoid effects, apart from the effects derived from the essential oil content.
