Florida’s Hemp Program Approved by USDA

Florida’s Hemp program has been officially approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) has been back and forth with the USDA. Apparently, sending draft after draft for months now. The final plan was submitted to the USDA last a week ago today, April 9th, and was finally approved today!

The program that was approved is not very restrictive at all.  They are asking for land that is used to grow hemp to be zoned for agricultural purposes. Also asking that those farmers growing hemp to be without a drug related felony conviction for the past 10 years.

Farmers will be able to apply to grow hemp starting April 27th.

The program’s acceptance by the USDA was first announced by the florida Hemp Council on their Facebook page.

The FDACS has posted to their website of the USDA’s approval, has also posted the letter of approval sent by the USDA. You can also find their cool new Certificate of Approval by the USDA posted to their site as well!
